Founding Fathers is a 2009 ducumentary that offers an alternative perspective on the establishement of Hiphop culture in the 1970s.
The film highlights Brooklyn and Queen's based mobile DJ crews that threw park jams in the early 1970s and beyond. The goal of the documentary is to expand the Hiphop early history by de-centering the Bronx, showing Hiphop culture to be the result of a convergence of music movements happening throughout New York City.
Founding Father highlights artisr such as Pete 'DJ' Jones, Grandmaster Flower and DJ Hollywood, whose contribution to the culture have long been noted but under explored.
