HUGH MASEKELA...AFRICAN JAZZ LIVING LEGEND*

Since 1954, Masekela has played music that closely reflects his life experience. The agony, conflict, and exploitation South Africa faced during 1950’s and 1960’s, inspired and influenced him to make music.

He was an artist who in his music vividly portrayed the struggles and sorrows, as well as the joys and passions of his country.
His music protested about apartheid, slavery, government; the hardships individuals were living. Masekela reached a large population of people that also felt oppressed due to the country situation.

The Jazz Legend himself Hugh Masekela is still touring with his band sharing his gift with the world. June 2011 he visited Nairobi Kenya for a show, but had some time to catch up with another African Legend Jeff Koinange a Kenyan journalist and chief reporter at TV station K24. He previously served as the Africa correspondent for  CNN from 2001 to 2007.
